CAVES IN SLOVENIA

Slovenia has no less than 8500 caves, of which some of them are reckoned to be among the most beautiful in the world Slovenia thanks this treasure to the incredibly beautiful Karst region, which is rich in poljes, dolines, sinkholes and periodic lakes,  and above all to the underground rivers and lakes. The most famous caves are Postojna, Pivka, Škocjan, Divača, Vilenica and Križ.

Postojna caves     

POSTOJNA CAVES

The Postojna Cave is a long karst cave system in the Slovenian town Postojna. With a length of 20,570 m it is the longest cave in Slovenia and the second largest cave in the world. In a part of the caves drives a train bringing the tourists down.

SKOCJAN CAVES

The Škocjan Caves are dripstone caves situated close to Divača in the karst in the southwestern part of Slovenia, 20 km east of Trieste. The cave has a length of 5 kilometers and is more than 200 meters deep. Inside the river are several waterfalls.
